Waterberg Plateau National Park
Made from compressed red sandstone, the Waterberg Plateau in Namibia rises up out of the Kalahari plains, mysterious and ancient and often called a “lost Eden”. Animals on top can’t get down and the sheer sides are almost inaccessible. This massive plateau fed by natural springs is a lush haven for endangered wildlife and uncommon flora. This historic area has marked the passage of time with fascinating sites. You can see pre-historic dinosaur prints, petrified dunes and San rock engravings. The local military cemetery is a reminder of a terrible tragedy in the history of the Herero people. The Waterberg Plateau National Park can be explored on fabulous walks and hikes and guided game drives – the views from the top are spectacular! Nearby you can enjoy a cultural visit to a Herero village and also go on Cheetah and Leopard safaris.

Waterberg Camp NWR

Etosha National Park
One of the largest parks on the continent, it derives its name from Etosha Pan, a large endorheic salt pan which covers almost a quarter of the park. Dotted across the landscape, the various waterholes are the best places to spot wildlife. The waterholes attract animals of all shapes and sizes, including the iconic Big Five, huge herds of gazelle and antelope, and a large enough variety of birds to spot a different species every day for almost a year. The pan is also a breeding ground for flamingos and at times has supported flamboyances of up to a million at a time!

Mushara Bush Camp

Huge, untamed and ruggedly beautiful Damaraland is an exceptionally scenic landscape of open plains and spectacular rock formations. The major attractions are Spitzkoppe, the Brandberg, Twyfelfontein, Vingerklip and the Petrified Forest.

Damara Mopane Lodge Gondwana Collection Namibia

Set along the spectacular Namibian coastline, the seaside town of Swakopmund is known for its wide open avenues, colonial architecture, and is surrounded by otherworldly desert terrain. Founded in 1892 as the main harbour for German South West Africa, Swakopmund is often described as being more German than Germany. Now a seaside resort town, Swakopmund is the capital of the Skeleton Coast tourism area and has plenty to keep visitors happy. The quirky mix of German and Namibian influences, adventure options, laidback atmosphere and cool sea breeze make it very popular Namibian destination. Visitors can look forward to a number of exciting activities including: quad biking, horse riding, paragliding, fishing, sightseeing and fascinating desert tours.

Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red sand dunes to make this one of the natural wonders of Africa and a photographers heaven.Aside from the attractions at Sossusvlei – Dune 45, Hiddenvlei, Big Daddy and Deadvlei – other attractions in the area include the Sesriem Canyon and Namib-Naukluft National Park, where the mountains of the Namib meet its plains.
